To DJ or Not to DJ?

Updated: Feb 6, 2019

Confused Bride

Many Brides and Grooms of today are looking into the option of doing away with DJ Entertainment at a wedding and replacing that entertainment with a Band or Bands.

I personally thought that it was a terrible idea however until I gave it some solid thought.... "Why are more and more Wedding Couples opting out of having DJ Entertainment at Weddings?" It has been a long-standing tradition to have a DJ at a Wedding. Not only to play party music during the reception part of the wedding but also to assist in having the right music for the Ceremony and Cocktail hour? So why move away from having a DJ?

Well, it's simple...

We recently asked some newly wedding couples this exact same question and their answers were all leading towards the same answer... "Wedding DJs has become BORING! The same music played all the time at every wedding. It is as if all the DJs obtain their music list from the same source! If you've been to one wedding; you've been to all weddings!"

The same boring traditions, the same reception order of events;

* Grand Entrance

* MC Announcements

* Starters

* Speeches

* Mains

* Speeches

* First Dance

* Father/Daughter ; Mother/Son dance

* Open Dance Floor

* Pause Dance Floor

* Garter Toss

* Bouquet Toss (All the Single Ladies - Beyonce) Oh my Gosh! - What music did the DJ Play before this song came out?

* Cutting Cake

* Open Dance Floor till the end...

It's crazy to think that times are changing and DJs are still sticking to the same old routine as before! What's even worse is that some DJs are not even experienced enough to suggest new ways of doing things because EVERYONE today is some form of DJ or Wedding DJ but their experience lacks the locus of control for a successful wedding!

So how do you; as a new wedding couple overcome the torture of the same old wedding theme? It's simple! Hire a Professional Wedding DJ Service that is dedicated to making a difference at your wedding and adding value! Dedicated to re-inventing the traditional wedding wheel! Looking to find new ways of getting married in this new-age 20th Century!

There's nothing wrong with tradition and there are still amazing couples getting married today who appreciate the traditional wedding theme however from my personal experience; if you paying a DJ Company well over R8,000 to deliver an entertaining service, the DJ should at least work with you to find the best possible way of ensuring that all your Entertainment and Musical Needs are taken care of!

At GLAM Entertainment DJs we work very closely with our Brides and Grooms to ensure that they and their guests achieve the highest level of enjoyment on their wedding day!
